Complaints of various nature are pending against 45 IAS officers in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh government today informed the Legislative Assembly here that complaints of various nature are pending against 45 IAS officers in the state as of November 17.

BJP MLA Devjibhai Patel,

In a written reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Devjibhai Patel, Chief Minister Raman Singh said that this included the cases registered with ACB/EOW against Joint Secretary, Jail and Transport, V K Dhurve and Under-Secretary, School Education, Ranveer Sharma.

Dhurve, when he was the Additional Collector of Surguja district, allegedly paid more than the prescribed rates for vehicles in a bid to favour the owners.

Ranveer Sharma, a 2012 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, as Sub-Divisional magistrate of Bhanupratappur (Kanker district), allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from patwari (revenue officer) Sudhir Lakra after threatening to take action against the latter based on reports of forgery published in local newspapers. The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) had trapped Sharma in August while taking bribe from ‘patwari’ (revenue officer) Sudhir Lakra at his office in Bhanupratappur. He was then shifted as Under Secretary Mantralaya at Naya Raipur.

Complaints were also pending against Alex Paul Menon (Balrampur Collector), Amit Katariya (Bastar Collector) and Bheem Singh (Dhamtari Collector) for alleged misuse of power to favour the family members and relatives.
